We would like to update you on the status of our petition drive and enlist your assistance in moving the initiative forward. If you recall, we obtained the requisite signatures (619 NASW members) and submitted them to the NASW National Board of Directors on March 29, 2017. Unfortunately, the only communication we have received is an acknowledgment of its receipt; beyond that, the Board seems to be ignoring it.
With mounting reports from around the nation concerning the financial distress that the Modernization Initiative has created for many Chapters, the reforms of NASW called for by our petition continue to become increasingly urgent.
We, therefore, ask you to contact your representatives to the National Board to request that a Special Membership Meeting is scheduled so that members can vote on the actions outlined in the petition. Please email, write, or call the Board President and your Board representatives about this important matter. We will certainly continue to advocate, through various channels, for the envisioned reforms and hope that you will do so as well.
Again, we thank you for your attention to this email and your help with this initiative.
On Behalf of the Coalition of Concerned NASW Members:
